Our new Show entitled "A Poetic Approach" was installed on Thursday August 19. It looks great!! Many thanks to those who worked tirelessly for several hours arranging the paintings, patching holes in the walls, labeling each piece of art, and designing the jewelry space so that every piece can be viewed clearly and comfortably.
Hanging a Show is an art form in and of itself and gives the participants a chance to appreciate the individual nuances of each persons impressions and expressions. I hope that all of you can sometime avail yourselves of this opportunity. I appreciate the help, but I know it would enrich your lives. Special thanks this month go to Erin Andrus (a new member), Jim Ott, Joyce Yamada, Lorena Fink, Casey Storm Northern, and Jean Fisk, who pulled this Show together!
This Show will end on September 30, and "Fall Musings" will replace it. This will be another relatively short Show, and is the last show before the longer Holiday Show. Sign Up Sheets will be available for these two shows at the September Meeting.
We will be having another Satellite Show (a show in a place other than our Art Center) the first week in November. The place of this Show is yet to be determined. More information coming!
The Art Center will be participating in the Chamber of Commerce Business Expo on Friday August 20 from 4-7 PM. This is to be a very large gathering of business people from El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Richmond, Pinole, Rodeo and Hercules. Our Center will be open and a lot of people who don't know us will have a chance to get acquainted.
This Sunday, August 22, will be our first, of what we hope will be an anual event: ART AND WINE IN THE PARK. More than 30 Artists have registered to participate and it is set to be a smashing event. This event was conceived and organized by Bill Lake. We send him thanks and applause for his persistant and tireless efforts. If you are not a participant we hope you come out to support the artists who are. With Bill's lead we can make this an annual event. Planning for next year will begin in January. If you are willing an interested in being on the Art and Wine In The Park Committee let Bill or Joan know (for the future).
